The Best Cafes in Tbilisi

Tbilisi has a serious coffee scene. Here are the 15 cafes I rate, what coffee costs and where to work.

Tbilisi has turned into a proper coffee city: small roasters in Vera, bakeries in Sololaki's old townhouses and big, calm rooms where people sit with a laptop all afternoon. Here's what you need to know about the 15 cafes I'd go back to, what a cappuccino costs, which cafes are best to work from and which neighborhood to drink your coffee in.

The best cafes in Tbilisi at a glance

Tbilisi's good cafes are small, independent and mostly within walking distance of each other, so you can work through several in a day. My list mixes the roasters, the bakeries and the all-day places where the food matters as much as the coffee. Prices are for a regular cappuccino.

The 15 best cafes in Tbilisi, ranked

I've ranked these by how happily I'd send a first-time visitor to each one, so the all-rounders come first and the more specific picks follow. Every entry says where it is, what to order and if you can open a laptop there.

1. Crossroads Bistro

Dining room with a patterned banquette and wall lamps seen through a green door at Crossroads Bistro
Photo: Google Maps

Crossroads Bistro is the cafe I'd send anyone to first, and the one I'd pick to work from. It's an all-day bistro at 30 Shalva Dadiani Street in Sololaki, a few minutes' walk from Freedom Square, and its dining room of patterned banquettes stays calm enough for a laptop through the day. Coffee is served until 11 PM, so it covers the morning cappuccino and the late espresso alike.

Photo: Google Maps

The food is what puts it above the coffee-only places. The draniki, crisp potato pancakes, are the dish everyone orders, with syrniki (cottage cheese pancakes) and shakshuka close behind, plus salmon, brioche and pate when you want something lighter. In the afternoon there are small plates and hummus to share, and the desserts sit on the same menu. It's also my first pick for brunch in Tbilisi.

It suits solo travelers, remote workers and anyone who wants a proper breakfast with their coffee. When you close the laptop in the evening, Crossroads Bar at the same address takes over with cocktails.

2. Shavi Coffee Roasters

Cafe seating area with retail shelf and wooden floorboards at Shavi Coffee Roasters - The Original
Photo: Google Maps

Shavi is the roaster I'd point a coffee obsessive to first. There are three branches: the original at 40 Zandukeli Street in Vera, a second at 28 Asatiani Street in Sololaki, set in a shaded courtyard behind a former garage, and the largest at 17 Ninoshvili Street in Chugureti, right by Marjanishvili metro, which opened in 2024.

Order a hand brew if you have time and the batch brew if you don't. A cappuccino runs 10 to 12 GEL. Laptops are only allowed in a set zone and within set hours, so I treat Shavi as a place to drink great coffee rather than to settle in. My favorite branch is the Asatiani courtyard on a warm morning.

3. Coffee LAB

Wooden tables and the coffee bar at Coffee LAB on Kazbegi Avenue
Photo: Google Maps

Coffee LAB roasts its own beans and supplies other cafes in town, Grind and Coffee Line among them, and its 9 GEL cappuccino is one of the cheapest on my list. The original at 24 Paliashvili Street in Vera has booths and runs 09:00 to 20:30. The branch I'd work from is 27 Kazbegi Avenue in Saburtalo: two floors, a terrace with a socket in each umbrella stand, and hours from 09:00 to 23:00.

There are three more: Axis Towers at 37 Chavchavadze Avenue (09:00 to 23:00), the roastery at Lisi Lake (09:00 to 22:00) and Bazari Orbeliani at 3a Vekua Street (10:00 to 23:00). Laptops are welcome at all of them. It's the most reliable name in the city, if not the most romantic room.

4. OKRO Coffee Roastery

Coffee bar and concrete walls at OKRO Coffee Roastery
Photo: Google Maps

OKRO, at 14 Nikoladze Street in Vera, opened in late 2023 and roasts on site. The room is graffiti walls and old carpets, and the pastry case is run by a French pastry chef, which is the real reason I go. Pair a pastry with whatever they're roasting that week.

Photo: Google Maps

A cappuccino is 12 GEL, at the top of the usual range, and there are designated laptop tables if you want to stay. It suits anyone who cares as much about the croissant as the coffee, and it's one of the best-looking new rooms in Vera.

5. Stamba Bakery

Stamba Bakery sits inside the Stamba Hotel at 14 Kostava Street, a former Soviet printing house turned hotel, a few minutes' walk from Rustaveli metro.

The bakery uses Georgian wheat grown on the group's own farm at Udabno, and you can taste it in the bread.

A cappuccino is 10 GEL and there are laptop areas, so it works for a morning session with breakfast. The setting is the draw: raw concrete, plants and high ceilings. Come early on a weekday if you want a table.

6. CO:CO Coffee Collective

Long wooden tables under paper lamps at CO:CO Coffee Collective
Photo: Google Maps

CO:CO opened in April 2026 in a former apartment building on Gudiashvili Square, and it's the cafe I'd recommend to anyone who wants the old-Tbilisi setting with good coffee. The beans are from Shavi. You get a balcony, a courtyard and a quiet, plant-filled side room set aside for laptops.

Photo: Google Maps

Breakfast is simple and good: eggs, porridge and toast. It suits a slow morning before a walk through Sololaki and the Old Town, and the side room is one of the calmest places to work in this part of town.

7. Pulp

Cafe room with big windows at Pulp in Vera
Photo: Google Maps

Pulp, at 22 Janashia Street in Vera, is a small bakery cafe where a small coffee starts at 7 GEL and a cappuccino runs 7 to 12. The cardamom buns are the order, and the sourdough is worth buying for a picnic. In the evening it switches to natural wine, which makes it a good bridge into Vera's natural wine bars.

Photo: Google Maps

There's one laptop area, so it's fine for an hour of emails but not for a full day. I'd come here for a bun and a coffee on the way somewhere else.

8. Slow

Photo: Google Maps

Slow has two branches. The main one at 17 Mtskheta Street in Vera serves a 10 to 12 GEL cappuccino, welcomes laptops and pours natural wine at night. The second, at 36 Aghmashenebeli Avenue, has a patio on the pedestrian avenue that's one of the better spots in town for watching people go by.

Slow also sells its own beans by the bag. It's a good all-rounder: work in the afternoon, a glass of wine when the light goes, and no one rushing you in between.

9. Mova Maisi

Gravel courtyard patio with wicker chairs and marble tables at Mova Maisi
Photo: Google Maps

Mova Maisi, at 9 Mikheil Zandukeli Dead End in Vera, has the best winter setting on my list: a courtyard greenhouse that stays heated through the cold months. A cappuccino is 10 GEL, laptops are fine and dogs are welcome.

Photo: Google Maps

It's the cafe I'd pick on a grey January afternoon, when you want plants and light without sitting outside.

10. Grind

Grind opened in 2026 at 14 Machabeli Street in Sololaki, in an underground, minimal space. It brews Coffee LAB beans as V60, cold brew or espresso, and also makes matcha. A cappuccino is 9 GEL.

The filled donuts are the thing to order. Laptops are fine, and an underground room is a good place to be on a hot afternoon, so it's my pick for a cold brew in Sololaki.

11. Baba Bakery

Seating area with cartoon pastry wall mural at Baba bakery
Photo: Google Maps

Baba Bakery is at 4 Machabeli Street, a minute from Freedom Square, and it bakes croissants, cruffins and kouign-amann in house. A cappuccino runs 10 to 12 GEL and laptops are fine.

Get here in the morning while the pastry is fresh. The kouign-amann, a buttery, caramelized pastry, is what I'd order first. It's the most central good bakery in the city, which makes it an easy first stop before a day of sightseeing.

12. Coffee Place

Vintage style cafe interior with counter and ornate ceiling at Coffee Place
Photo: Google Maps

Coffee Place, at 24 Tabidze Street in Sololaki, is fully plant-based, with oat, coconut and banana milk as standard rather than as an extra. The rooms have frescoed ceilings, which makes it one of the prettiest places in town to drink a coffee.

Photo: Google Maps

A cappuccino is 12 GEL and laptops are fine. It's the obvious pick for vegans, and it fits neatly into a day built around vegetarian food in Tbilisi. Try the banana milk once, even if you normally take dairy.

13. Tsvari Roasters

Cafe room with wooden tables at Tsvari Roasters
Photo: Google Maps

Tsvari Roasters, at 64 Ninoshvili Street in Chugureti, opened in late 2025 and runs a rotating list of single origins. A cappuccino is 10 to 12 GEL and laptops are fine.

Photo: Google Maps

This is the place for anyone who wants to try something new each visit. Ask which single origin is on, and buy a bag if you like it: Tsvari sells its beans to take home.

14. Cafe Leila

Painted ceiling, mirrors and red banquettes at Café Leila
Photo: Google Maps

Cafe Leila, at 18 Shavteli Street in the Old Town, opposite Anchiskhati Basilica, fills a former Soviet-era sweet shop with muqarnas ceilings. It's open 11 AM to 11 PM daily, and a cappuccino is 9 GEL.

A bowl of mushroom and herb soup with a slice of bread at Cafe Leila
Photo: Google Maps

It's as much a restaurant as a cafe: the mushroom kharcho with blackberry sauce and cornbread is the dish to order, the mushroom and tarragon soup is the lighter pick, and nothing on the menu is fried. Laptops are allowed, but it's busy and much photographed, so I'd come for lunch rather than work. In cherry blossom season, sit outside.

15. They Said Books

Coffee counter and striped benches at They Said Books
Photo: Google Maps

They Said Books is a bookshop and cafe on a quiet street running parallel to Kostava, a short walk from Rustaveli metro. It brews Five Elephant coffee from Berlin, and it's one of the best places in the center to work or read.

It suits a quiet afternoon with a book from the shelves, or a few hours of focused work away from the busier cafes in Vera and Sololaki.

The best cafes to work from in Tbilisi

Most specialty cafes in Tbilisi are happy to see a laptop, but a few limit them to one zone and a couple don't allow them at all. These are the ones I'd actually work from, in order.

#CafeAreaLaptop setupBest for

Limited: Shavi allows laptops only in a zone and within set hours, Pulp has one laptop area, and Cafe Leila allows them but is too busy to settle into. No laptops at all: Santino and Matasse 1822.

My working day would look like this: breakfast and the first few hours at Crossroads Bistro, a walk and a pastry at OKRO or Stamba, then the evening at Coffee LAB on Kazbegi Avenue if a deadline means working late.

Tbilisi cafes by neighborhood

Where you stay decides which cafes you'll actually use, so here is how the city's coffee splits up by area.

Vera

Vera has the most serious coffee in Tbilisi. The original Shavi on Zandukeli Street, Coffee LAB on Paliashvili, OKRO, Pulp, Slow, Mova Maisi and Stamba Bakery are all here. Add RedMan Cafe near Tbilisi Concert Hall, which does V60 and Chemex, all-day brunch, gluten-free pastries and plant milks, and Udabno Shop, a mostly takeaway spot known for almond milk coffee. Nushiko, by the Amirani Cinema on Kostava Street, is tiny but good for a quick cup.

Sololaki and Freedom Square

Sololaki has the best-looking rooms: old townhouses, frescoed ceilings and courtyards. Crossroads Bistro, Grind, Baba Bakery, Coffee Place and the Shavi courtyard on Asatiani Street are all a short walk apart, and CO:CO sits on Gudiashvili Square at the edge of the neighborhood. Santino has a branch at 3/5 Tabidze Street, just off Freedom Square, that's open 24 hours, the only round-the-clock specialty coffee I know in the center.

Old Town

Photo: Google Maps

The Old Town is more about setting than serious coffee. Cafe Leila is the best stop, and Matasse 1822 at 40 Vertskhli Street is a Tiffany-blue patisserie where a cappuccino runs 10 to 15 GEL; order the honey cake, one of the classic Georgian desserts, and leave the laptop at home, because it's not a working cafe.

By the Dry Bridge

Santino's original branch is at 15 Atoneli Street by the Dry Bridge Market, with a 12 GEL cappuccino and no laptops.

Puri Guliani on Saarbrucken Square has tables over the river, a 10 GEL cappuccino and a laptop-friendly room; order the ponchiki, the sugared doughnuts, or come back for the khachapuri it's better known for.

City Hikers, in Deda Ena Park, opened in spring 2026 with Mamuli Roasters coffee, all-day breakfast, floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor seats.

Chugureti and Marjanishvili

Chugureti is where the new places open. The biggest Shavi is at 17 Ninoshvili Street by Marjanishvili metro, Tsvari Roasters is further along at number 64, and Kempel is in the same area.

Graffiti-covered courtyard at Fabrika on Ninoshvili Street
Photo: Google Maps

Ninoshvili is also the street for Fabrika, the converted Soviet sewing factory with a big courtyard, and Slow's patio on Aghmashenebeli Avenue is nearby in Marjanishvili.

Vake and Saburtalo

Vake and Saburtalo are the working end of town. Coffee LAB has its Kazbegi Avenue branch in Saburtalo and another at Axis Towers on Chavchavadze Avenue, where you'll also find Starbucks if you want something familiar. Baho, near Delisi metro, serves Rwandan coffee, and Caffeine by Workin is a tiny spot for a quick cup.

Avlabari

Across the river, Coffee Line sits close to Holy Trinity Cathedral, brews Coffee LAB beans and has a terrace and a courtyard. It's the obvious stop after the cathedral, before you walk back down toward the river.

What coffee costs in Tbilisi and what to order

A cappuccino costs 9 to 12 GEL at almost every specialty cafe in Tbilisi, and the spread between the cheapest and the priciest is small. Here is how my picks line up, cheapest first.

Cappuccino priceCafes
From 7 GELPulp (small coffee from 7)
9 GELCoffee LAB, Grind, Cafe Leila
10 GELStamba Bakery, Mova Maisi, Puri Guliani
10 to 12 GELShavi, Slow, Baba Bakery, Tsvari Roasters
12 GELOKRO, Coffee Place, Santino
10 to 15 GELMatasse 1822

Georgian coffee, the Turkish style boiled in a small copper pot with the grounds left in the cup, is cheaper still and is what you'll get at bakeries and older cafes. Let it settle for a minute and stop before the last mouthful. You'll also see RAF coffee on most menus: espresso with cream and vanilla sugar, which drinks more like a dessert than a coffee.

Two cups of Turkish-style coffee with the grounds in, on a tray with Turkish delight at Craft Coffee in Tbilisi
Photo: Google Maps

For the coffee itself, I'd order filter at the roasters (Shavi's hand brew, whatever single origin Tsvari has on) and a cappuccino everywhere else. In summer, Grind's cold brew is the one to beat.

Coffee beans to take home from Tbilisi

Bags of beans make a good souvenir, and five cafes on my list sell their own: Shavi, Coffee LAB, OKRO, Tsvari and Slow. I'd buy from Tsvari for something unusual, Shavi or Coffee LAB for a reliable everyday roast, and OKRO if you liked what you drank there.

You'll also see loose beans sold by weight from tubs at street stalls, which is fine for Georgian coffee at home. For filter or espresso, buy a sealed bag from a roaster instead, so you know what you're getting and when it was roasted.

Key takeaways

  • Crossroads Bistro in Sololaki is my #1 cafe and my #1 place to work: draniki, a calm room and coffee until 11 PM.
  • Shavi, Coffee LAB, OKRO and Tsvari are the roasters to visit for the best cup, and they all sell beans.
  • Expect 9 to 12 GEL for a cappuccino and say "ushaqro" at ordinary cafes if you don't want sugar.
  • Base your coffee days in Vera or Sololaki, and go on weekday mornings to avoid the weekend brunch rush.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best cafe in Tbilisi?

Crossroads Bistro on Shalva Dadiani Street in Sololaki is my pick for the best all-round cafe, because the food and the room are as good as the coffee. For coffee alone, Shavi Coffee Roasters and Coffee LAB are the two I'd send a coffee lover to first.

How much is a coffee in Tbilisi?

A cappuccino costs 9 to 12 GEL at almost every specialty cafe, and a small coffee at Pulp starts at 7 GEL. Georgian coffee at a bakery or an older cafe costs less, while a fancy patisserie like Matasse 1822 charges up to 15 GEL.

Which cafes in Tbilisi are good for working on a laptop?

Crossroads Bistro, Coffee LAB on Kazbegi Avenue, CO:CO Coffee Collective and OKRO are the best for a long session. Shavi only allows laptops in a zone at set hours, and Santino and Matasse 1822 don't allow them at all.

Are there 24-hour cafes in Tbilisi?

Yes, Santino's branch at 3/5 Tabidze Street, just off Freedom Square, is open 24 hours. For late evenings, Crossroads Bistro serves coffee until 11 PM and most Coffee LAB branches stay open until 23:00.

What is Georgian coffee?

Georgian coffee is Turkish-style coffee boiled in a small copper pot and served with the grounds still in the cup. It's cheap and strong, you'll find it at bakeries and older cafes, and it usually comes sweet unless you ask for it without sugar.

Can I pay by card in Tbilisi cafes?

Yes, cards and contactless are accepted almost everywhere. Small bakeries and older cafes can be cash only, so carry a 20 GEL note, since paying in lari by card is normal in cafes but not guaranteed at a bakery counter.
